Full Description

{1} Three of the test pits south of the church porch produced significant quantities of 1250-1350 pottery. Disarticulated human bones suggests that this area had been used and reused for burials and the general distribution of the pottery throughout the stratigraphy suggests that this material predated these burials and had been disturbed in their cutting. The quantity of pottery indicates occupation rather than any other type of activity, suggesting that the southern churchyard was only created in the late medieval period.
