Full Description

{1} A watching brief undertaken during the excavation of a cable trench along the south side of the B4036 road found evidence of possible medieval tenements which are known to have been deserted by 1489. A stone wall was aligned east to west and abutted a metalled stone surface. To the south of the wall and surface was a hearth made of thin pieces of sandstone, all of which were burnt and fire-cracked. Pottery from the hearth dated to the 12th-14th century.
