Monument record 5089/0/3 - Prehistoric Pit Alignment

Pit alignment traced for 40m, but truncated to the south by the M1 motorway and gas pipeline to the north

{1} Pit alignment that can be traced for a distance of c 40m, although it may continue further beneath an area of modern disturbance to the north.

{2} A short length of pit alignment was present in Field 3, aligned north to south and at least 40m long, it had been destroyed to the south by the cut of the M1 motorway and to the north by the High Pressure gas pipeline. In trench 2, the pits were clearly defined against the limestone substrate. From the upper fill of one of the pits, sherds of pottery and a flint flake were recovered.
