Full Description
{1} On the eastern edge of Area C there is a weak but distinctive curvilinear anomaly which represents part of the footings of a roundhouse. It has small south-east facing entrance gap flanked by terminals that show a slight magnetic enhancement. Whilst no other certain roundhouses have been detected, it is possible that examples may be represented by some of the small curvilinear anomalies that occur within this area.
{2} Immediately to the south of these large boundary ditches were four shallow curvilinear ditch cuts, aligned more or less east-west, which probably formed the edges of the ring ditch. A single curvilinear probable Iron Age ring ditch observed at the west end of the trench. The ditch curved from north-south to east-west, and was steep-sided with a flat base 1.60m wide by 0.57m deep. The primary fill was 0.24m deep and comprised a probably natural deposit of firm brown-green-yellow clay. The upper fill was a 0.33m depth of firm mid-brown-grey silty clay with rare ironstone, containing animal bone and middle Iron Age pottery.
