Monument record 7649 - Bronze Age and Iron Age activity, Griffiths Farm

Summary
Archaeological investigation, including geophysical survey and trial trench excavation, identified a number of later prehistoric features in the vicinity of Griffiths Farm. The earliest feature was an isolated pit radiocarbon dated to the early Bronze Age. A series of other features, including ditches and a ring ditch, were dated to the Iron Age.

Full Description
{2} Archaeological evaluation identified an area of archaeological activity on the lower slope to the north of Wootton Brook, where a Bronze Age pit, containing cremated animal bone and three flint arrowheads (and a scraper), was identified, along with an Iron Age ring ditch and several late Iron Age ditches. A number of undated ditches and pits were also identified.
