Full Description

{1} Clay for this brickyard was obtained from the iron ore mines to the south-west, both being owned by the Woodford House Estate (later, from 1882 by the Twywell Iron Ore Co Ltd). The latter were in use from 1866 to 1890 when the brickworks was taken taken over by Plevins and Co (Islip Iron Co). The works was connected both to the mines and to the Kettering to Stamford Railway by a standard gauge branch, on which two locomotives worked the traffic. The brickworks probably closed about the First World War period but extensive remains could be seen at least until 1960.
