Full Description
{1} Test pitting ahead of the construction of a new dwelling revealed a probable circular pit, with steep nearly vertical sides. The base was not seen as the pit was of considerable depth. It contained late post-medieval pottery and the feature may have been a clay extraction pit associated with the pottery kilns from the neighbouring plots. The monitoring of the foundation trenches revealed only modern made ground layers.
