Building record 755/0/35 - Linden Cottage, 12 High Street

Former farmhouse. The original single cell building probably earlier than 18th century

The building is externally rendered under a modern roof. Part of the front elevation projects a few centimetres forward, indicating more than one phase of building.

The walls are stone and can be viewed internally where the 18th and 19th century refurbishment is displayed in the doorframes and in the manner of the laying of the stones in the northern extension where the walls are diminished relative to the original single room building. There is good quality but simple, plank and batten door to the front, behind the porch door. Building has recently been a farmhouse, but an origainl single cell building earlier than the 18th century is indicated. However, limited access was available to this building.
