Full Description

{1} During excavation of the foundations for the retaining wall, a ditch was exposed, 0.8m below ground level. It was 2.8m wide and was only partially excavated. A single sherd of 13th/14th century pottery and many animal bones were recovered. The continuation of this ditch was observed in a drainage trench for a septic tank. It was 3.0m wide and 0.9m deep.

The ditch is likely to have been either a 13th/14th century enclosure ditch or a major property boundary ditch. It is on the same alignment as other ditches observed some 30m to the east.
