Full Description
{1} Photographs and illustrations; structural and map evidence indicates this stable block was largely rebuilt sometime after 1855 by the Easton Neston Estate utilising the rear wall and foundations of an earlier stable block. The rebuilding used fine quality rubbed brickwork for the semi-circular arches over the ground floor openings. Accomodation seems to have been of two horse boxes and two stables that would have provided stabling for 6 horses. Some of the partitions and mangers still survive. The upper floor appears to have been used to store fodder.
{2} Historic England received an application to list the stables at Park View, but the criteria for listing were not fulfilled.
The stables are constructed from red brick laid in English bond with dressings of stone and rubbed brick and a slate roof covering. The two-storey northern range is six window bays wide. Along the ground floor are alternating doors and windows, under semicircular rubbed brick arches with radial bars to the fanlights. The windows are timber casements with slender glazing bars, except for two of the first-floor windows which are 20th century insertions under concrete lintels. A hatch to the hay loft is above the door in the fourth bay, and a ruinous external brick staircase occupies the last bay. The rear walls hows evidence of the former outbuildings that were built against it, one of which remains at the western end. The elevation is plain except for a row of timber casement windows along the first floor. Overall, the stables are in a state of disrepair.
{3} The northern stables have been demolished since the early 21st century.
