Full Description
{1} Archaeological watching brief undertaken in 2007 as part of the wider archaeological investigations at Bozeat Quarry identified a small Saxon cemetery comprising four inhumation burials and a fifth disturbed burial. All four burials were aligned east to west and all were adult. One, an adult female, had been decapitated with the head placed between the legs. Grave goods were only found with one of the burials and included an iron dagger/knife and a buckle dated to the late 6th/7th centuries. Some cloth and other textiles survived adhering to the buckle.
