Full Description

{1} Geophysical survey detected four probable kilns between the canal and Thrupp Covert. The kilns were represented by intense positive rectangular anomalies ranging in size from 7m to 9m long and 3m to 5m wide. Three lie parallel to the canal and the edge of the covert, whilst the fourth is aligned perpendicularly. The latter shows some internal detail, with enhanced magnetic intensity at the edges possibly indicating sections of the kiln wall. Spreads of possible brick rubble were detected as well as a series of possible pits.
