Full Description

{1} Trial trench excavation revealed the presence of some medieval features. The two ditches seem to be part of an enclosure related to the shrunken village. Four sherds of Stamford Ware (900-1200 AD) and two sherds of Lyveden-Stanion 'A' Ware (c1150-1200 AD) were recovered.

{2} Watching brief undertaken during construction of a new library confirmed the existence for the main ditches. The presence of pre-medieval features could not be confirmed.
