Summary

Archaeological trial trench excavation in 2001 identified a former road aligned east-west immediately to the south of the present street. The southern roadside ditch was also identified, the fill of which contained pottery dating to c1700.

Full Description

{1} Archaeological trial trench excavation in 2001 identified a road aligned east to west comprising a cobbled surface. It was probably the 'lost' road to the North end. The cobbles were laid directly onto the natural, with no earlier road surface beneath. To the south was a roadside ditch the fill of contained pottery dating to c 1700.
