Description

{1} Two trenches were excavated. These revealed extensive post-medieval activity on the site including demolition evidence from earlier cottages, three postholes, three pits, including a dog burial and a small gully. The location of the putative 'lost' road running east-west across the area was also confirmed running on an alignment only slightly different from the current road. A single pit and possibly part of a ditch containing medieval pottery(1150-1400) indicate an earlier presence on site. Site code: HMS01
