Summary
Site of Congregational chapel built in King's Head Lane (later King Street) in 1777 by seceders from the Castle Hill Meeting house. It was enlarged in 1858 and extended to the west and altered in 1880. The church moved to Abington Avenue in 1901 and the former chapel was further altered by a variety of users. It was finally demolished in 1967

Full Description
{1} Seceders from Castle Hill meeting who left in 1775 after a disputed ministerial appointment built a chapel in King's Head Lane in 1777; the building was considerably enlarged in 1858 and greatly extended to the west and altered in 1880; the church removed to Abington Avenue in 1901 and the former chapel was further altered by a variety of users. The surviving parts of the original structure, at the east end and the east half of the south wall, are of stone, with two widely spaced pointed-arched windows in the east wall and a platband above. The interior (originally about 34ft by 20ft) latterly had a pulpit at the east end. Demolished 1967.
