Full Description

{1} A group of 13th-century pottery, including Lyveden Ware, was found in a pit exposed by building contractors.

{2} Between the church and the ford the late Mrs Hart collected 73 large sherds of medieval pottery during building works which, with the separate identification of 13th-century sherds in a pit adjacent to Church Street {1} suggests occupation of the street frontage. Twenty sherds of late medieval pottery collected by Mrs Hart may indicate that at least part of the area remained occupied until Tudor times.
