Summary

A mid 19th century house located on the northern side of West Street. The house is two stories high with a Welsh slate roof. All the openings have stone lintels with keystones and casement windows. A chapel once stood to the rear of this house.

Full Description

{1} Two storeys, freestone dressings, class 7 (urban house), early 19th-century. A side passage leads to a yard with the footings (9mx6m approx) of a former Baptist chapel which is said to have been built in 1840 as a Calvinistic Chapel (Whellan, 696). In 1844 a newly built cottage, presumably No 36, was surrendered to RH Ireson, a Dissenting Minister; the cottage and chapel were then mortgaged.
