Full Description

{1} Geophysical survey undertaken in 2018 identified an L-shaped section of ditch with a rounded corner near to the northern edge of the survey area. A large anomaly immediately to the north is typical of a backfilled quarry pit likely to be post-medieval in date. It cuts across the enclosure ditch. Further backfilled quarry pits lie to the east.

{2} Geophysical survey undertaken in 2024 detected the L-shaped section of ditch that was initally found in the 2018 survey. The survey also found some well less defined linear anomalies that can be seen within the quarry boundaries. A curving ditch, possibly forming one side of an enclosure, was detected in the north of Field 2. Numerous pit-like features were detected, with some arranged into a linear scatter stretching c200m in the south or the survey area. Another possible cluster of pits is located c70m north of the L-shaped ditch within the gap in the quarry.
