Full Description

{1} A level 2 survey was undertaken prior to conversion of and extension to the Wash House. The survey concluded that the building originally functioned as a kitchen for the Manor House of 1749 but had subsequently been altered/extended in the early 19th century to accommodate its use as a wash house or laundry building.
The building is rectangular in plan, single storey with a hipped roof under Welsh Slate and with a ventilator arrangement along the ridge. There are two stacks present through the ridge, each on a base with projecting string courses. The stack to the south feeding two flues, the one to the north feeding one flue. is built of limestone ashlar with lime mortar along most of its west elevation, the remaining part of the elevation to the north being of coursed limestone rubble with lime mortar, as are both gable ends and the east elevation. Door and window jambs, as well as the corners display ashlar quoins, whilst the north east and north west corner of the north gable has been extended upwards to form a parapet. Within the west, east and south elevations are a series of windows, those at ground level each comprise of two lights, and are of wood with a top opening casement, whilst those at eaves level are one light and also top opening.
