Full Description

{1} A level 2 building recording survey of the outbuildings was carried out prior to conversion to residential use. From map evidence, the outbuildings appear to have been constructed between 1879 and 1883. They were probably originally used for keeping horses, storing horse riding equipment and hay, and keeping coaches for the horses to draw.

The original users were probably brother and sister John and Mary Bouverie, and their mother Jane, who lived in nearby Hardingstone House in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The buildings have been modified at times, including: being extended outwards, doorways and window openings changed or blocked up, metal window frames inserted, a lean-to shed/toilet added, an up-and-over garage door installed and a car servicing pit created. Different types of building materials have been used over the years including limestone blocks, Northamptonshire ironstone, imperial-sized bricks and modern bricks. Concrete 'mortar' has been used in places instead of lime mortar to patch up the walls.
