Full Description

{1} A level 2 building recording survey was undertaken of the farm building prior to conversion into residential accomodation. The farm building had been built by 1885, but appears to date to the second half of the 19th century. It is constructed from brick with a Welsh slate roof and is of two storeys. The ground floor appears to have been used as a cart shed with five arched openings along the northern elevation; with the dividing piers constructed from bull-nosed bricks. In the First and Second Edition Ordnance Survey maps the building is depicted as open-fronted; by 1974 the two south-eastern bays have been separated off internally and wooden doors fitted. The upper floor appears to have been used as a granary, with close-boarded floor and ventilation grilles. The use of cross-strainers between the floor joists indicates that the floor was designed to take heavy loads.

In the 1970s the first floor was used as a museum commemorating the Battle of Naseby.
