Full Description

{1} Emergency excavation of two skeletons in a pit was undertaken after a human skull was found during the excavation of a service trench in 2016. The two partial skeletons were both probably female and both had spinal joint disease. Only one skull was found. An unhealed sharp force wound to the centre of the frontal bone was likely to the casue of death. Radiocarbon dating of this skeleton has produced a date of 80-239 calAD. No signs of violent trauma were present on the other skeleton, although it is suggested that both were killed, possibly at the time of burial.
