Abstract/Summary
Oxford Archaeology East staff undertook an emergency excavation of a double burial uncovered during service works for the Anglian Water pumping station on a new pipeline on the outskirts of Kettering. Previous archaeological work had shown that there was Romano-British occupation within the area. The uncovered burial contained two partial skeletons, one with significant head traume, likely to be the cause of death. Both skeletons were buried within a small pit suggesting the individuals were killed or executed and then dumped into the feature. The burials were dated by radiocarbon to 80-237 cal AD.
