Full Description

{1} Building recording survey of a complex of farm buildings prior to conversion. The complex is set around around an almost square courtyard, open to the south-west. The buildings are constructed of Northamptonshire ironstone with detailing in red brick. An inner skin and the door opening are also of red brick. Roofs are almost entirely of Welsh slate with ceramic red ridge tiles.
The buildings were constructed in about 1870, typical of many planned farms of the 19th century and appear to have replaced earlier farm buildings of the 17th century. The farm complex appears to have become part of the Overstone Estate in the 1860s, which may have precipitated the redevelopment. A survey of 1875, undertaken for insurance purposes, detailed the use of each of the buildings in that period, although they necessarily altered during the 20th century.
