Full Description

{1} Building recording survey undertaken prior to conversion. Threshing barn probably shown on early 19th-century maps; constructed from limestone and pitched Collyweston slate roof. There is evidence of a single-storey range at the north side of the west wall, which once abutted the barn. The roof is of Collyweston slate, supported on four principal rafter trusses with staggered purlins mortised into the principals and pegged. The floor is of modern poured concrete panels. In the south wall, three triangular vents are present. In the north part of the east wall two windows are inserted: at first floor level, a 25-pane Crittal window with central 6 x 2-pane centrally tilting casement; at ground floor level a conventional 2-light casement of 12 panes in a bead-edged 3" frame.
The east wall has a larger opening containing ledged and diagonally braced double doors. At the west side, smaller doors of similar construction are present. At the west side of the north elevation, a conventional door opening has been forced through the wall. The north wall appears to be a re-used gable of a domestic property with a steeper roofline than that of the current building.

{2} Heritage Assessment of the barn determined that there were no elements of a former domestic property within its structure.
