Full Description
{1} Groundworks in the garden of 3 Harrison Court in the summer of 2020 revealed at least one burial and remains of a coffin. Radiocarbon dating of a tibia produced two age ranges of AD 1680-1740 and AD 1805-1935 (overall 95.4% probability).
{2} From around 1660, Quakers from Bugbrooke were no longer buried in the churchyard, but were buried in their gardens, orchards or the backs of their houses.
{4} Cartographic evidence from 1779 onwards indicates that land belonging to the farmstead at 73 High Street extended as far south as Pilgrim's Lane. In the late 18th century, Thomas Adkins held the farmstead. The family may have been non-conformists since there are no 'closure' records for them, in the form of burial or of offsprings marriages.
