Full Description

{1} Heritage assessment of the farm complex was undertaken ahead of planning proposals. The double-height barn, built of limestone rubble, is the earliest element of the Farm and can be securely dated to c1775, the date of inclosure. The southern half of what is now the estate worker's cottage was built onto the barn, probably for a resident stockman, perhaps in the first quarter of the 19th century. The central range was added by 1817 (if the early Ordnance survey mapping is correct) and the remainder of the buildings added in a piecemeal fashion over the course of the century. By 1884, the farm was fully developed as a large E-plan complex.
