Full Description
{2,3} Trial trench excavation identified three ditches in one trench, all of which contained pottery dating to the Iron Age and late Iron Age/early Roman period. No internal features were noted. The trench had targeted an enclosure identified by an earlier geophysical survey. It was approximately 26m long by 18m wide, with possibly two further contiguous enclosures; the other ditches probably related to contiguous enclosure or field systems. The presence of another enclosure, targeted by Trench 61, was not confirmed during the trial trench excavation.
