Full Description

{1} Archaeological observation undertaken during the construction identified few archaeological remains despite the site's location. A single, quite substantial ditch, was recorded running broadly east/west across the excavation area. This contained early Roman pottery. The evidence suggests that ditch may represent an outlying boundary, on the periphery of the Roman settlement which lay c.70m to the south of the site.
