Summary

Archaeological observation undertaken during the construction of a sports pitch identified a small group of shallow pits, from which Beaker pottery and worked flint were recovered.

Full Description

{1} Monitoring of machine stripping of overburden in preparation for construction of an all-weather sports pitch identified a cluster of several shallow (truncated) circular and oval pits. Two joining sherds of Beaker pottery were found in the central pit, along with two fragments of fired clay wattle and daub. A tertiary flint flake, a fragment of retouched secondary blade and a denticulated blade were also found in other pits.
