Full Description

{1} During the first season of excavation in 1966, there was sparse evidence of earlier occupation including worked flints, a hammer stone, stone axe fragments and a scatter of 2nd/3rd century Romano-british pottery. The most significant feature was a possible Neolithic infant burial in an oblong pit. The rationale behind the date assigned by Butler is now not known.
