Description

{2} First of three seasons of work directed by University of Leeds archaeologist Lawrence Butler. {3} The excavation of Croft 29 was undertaken during ten weeks between July and September 1966. An area measuring roughly 150ft east-west by 100ft was excavated; the majority of the house and its yards were stripped of topsoil by bulldozer while the boundary banks and the adjacent village street were sectioned by hand.
