Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking survey was undertaken ahead of construction of the A6 Rothwell-Desborough Bypass. A significant concentration was found in Field 13 which appears to be too great to be accounted for by manuring and seems likely to represent an occupation site. Its distribution particularly towards the southern end of the field matches the concentration of pottery at the northern end of Field 14 in the 1992 survey. The date range of the pottery includes Saxo-Norman period ware of the late 10th to 12th century, with single sherds of St Neots Ware (AD 900-1100) and Stamford Ware (AD 850- 1200) also present.
