Full Description
{1} Geophysical survey ahead of HS2 identified rectilinear and curvilinear anomalies indicative of prehistoric and/or Roman enclosures. Faint circular anomalies may be round house ring ditches.
{2} The excavations at the area of C31050 uncovered limited evidence of prehistoric and Iron Age activity with the main phase of activity dating to the Roman period. A series of enclosure ditches, pits, postholes and an unusual semi-sunken rectilinear building were uncovered along with a ceramic assemblage indicating activity in 1st - 2nd century AD.
