Full Description
{1} Owners S.H.Blackwell and S.W.Smith leased the land on 13th February 1852. Blackwell was an ironmaster from Dudley and Smith was the financial adviser. The ironstone outcrop site was later partly occupied by the Midland Railway main line and the quarry was in use from late in 1851 or early 1852. The quarry was not in use for very long. There is no record of any tramway on the site and haulage over the site was probably by horse. The quarry was probably reopened under the guise of Dean & Chapter Quarries and later worked under this name.
