Monument record 4517 - Possible prehistoric settlement

Summary
Cropmarks of a possible prehistoric pit alignment, ring ditch, likely to be a bronze Age round barrow, and probable enclosures have been identified on aerial photographs. Fieldwalking survey has found worked flint in the vicinity.

Full Description
{2} Crop marks seen at SP 730658 by R Hollowell. (Nothing visible on available APs, OS 1965).
{3} The site is sloping arable land at present under winter crop. There are no surface indications and no finds have been reported.
{4} Ring ditch and enclosures (SP 730658) N of Brampton Grange, on Northampton Sand at 95m above OD. Air photographs (in NMR) show one large circular feature, perhaps a ring ditch, with two incomplete rectangular enclosures to the W and SE. Worked flints, including scrapers and cores, have been found a little to the SW.
