Full Description

{1} There is a barn on the S side of Naseby church. It has an oak framework, and a thatched roof. Carved over the doorway is "ES 1601" (probably Edward Shuckburgh).

{2} [Former list description] 'Old Tithe Barn' to SW of church was built about 1651. It is a half-timbered structure on a stone base, about 90 ft x 25 ft. The complete building is in very bad condition.

{3} The barn has been demolished: it stood at SP 6886 7810.

{4} The tithe barn was demolished in 1945. The building is reputed to have been erected by Edward Shukburgh having been brought from his estate in Norfolk. The date over the main doors was 1653 ie after the battle. It would appear that in 1936 one of the bays was taken off the barn reducing it from 90ft to 77ft long.
