Full Description
{1} Owners Butlin Bevan & Co. Ltd. The deposited plans of the widening of the Midland Railway in November 1872 shows close to Irchester Station a well established quarry system. It show a single tramway to the west side of the railway and running parallel to the main line with branches off to the quarry faces. In 1873 an extension to the line to the north of the Higham Ferrers road wsa made and quarrying revealed part of a Roman cemetary. The actual closure of the quarry is unknown but what is known is that there was no sign of the system from 1884 onwards.
