Full Description

{1} Historic building recording of two single-storey outbuildings prior to renovation. The earliest was constructed in the early 18th century from coursed limestone rubble. Internally, it is dominated by a large fireplace with a chamfered oak lintel beam and a near-complete smoke jack, which was used for cooking meat. Other fixtures and fittings, such as meat hooks and a shallow glazed stoneware trough sink also point to a primary function of meat preparation. The adjoining building was constructed at some point afterwards, but prior to 1884. It is built from coursed limestone rubble and brick and appears to have functioned as a cart shed. Adjoining buildings to the north, now in separate ownership, were an associated tack room and stable.
