Full Description

{1} Historic building recording was undertaken prior to the conversion of the barn to residential use. A newspaper report of the fire that gutted the barn in 1933 stated that it had been built in the 16th century. A very worn datestone in the west gable appears to bear very the faint numerals of '*5*8'. The Victorian County History, however, suggests that it was actually of a 17th century origin. In the late 19th century the Reverend E Tottenham revived the annual village feast and the barn was used for the festivities. The fire of 1933 gutted the barn and resulted in a partial loss of fabric. It was rebuilt, with modifications, by 1937. In the late 20th century was modified again, including the addition of casement windows.
