Full Description
{1} - Geophysical survey undertaken by MOLA in 2023 identified a set of parallel that are north-east to south-west aligned positive linear anomalies that are suggestive of Roman cultivation trenches. The evidence is inconclusive, as modern field drains could produce very similar anomalies, but in this case it would seem most sensible for field drains to respect the alignment of the ridge and furrow earthworks in the field, and the fact that they do not implies that Roman cultivation trenches are the more likely cause.
