Monument record 3272/0/34 - Post-medieval brickfield, north of Easton Lane

Please read our .

Summary

A probable post-medieval clay extraction site is visible as earthworks on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data. Located in part of a field adjacent Easton Lane, Bozeat, the probable extraction site is almost entirely covered in irregular scoops and ridges from the clay extraction. The extraction appears to have taken place in a block medieval ridge and furrow cultivation, part of which remains extant. The irregular earthworks appear to be grassed over, suggesting clay extraction ceased some time prior to 1946. No evidence of clay extraction or a brickfield appears on any editions of OS map.
