Monument record 2675/2 - Possible Neolithic causewayed enclosure
Please read our guidance about the use of Northamptonshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Cropmarks initially suggested to represent the site of a possible Neolithic causewayed enclosure. Rog Palmer noted lengths of a possible double ditch enclosure, but suggested that further work was necessary. Examination of air photographs by RCHME during the Industry and Enclosure in the Neolithic project noted only swirls of geological marks at the reported grid reference, but there was no sign of an enclosure.

Full Description
{1} Possible causewayed enclosure identified from aerial photographs. Interpreted as a 'suspect or uncharacteristic' example of this monument type and requiring further work in order to confirm the interpretation. However, the location and size agree with that common to the area.
{2} Examination of air photographs by RCHME during the Industry and Enclosure in the Neolithic project noted only swirls of geological marks at the reported grid reference, but there was no sign of an enclosure.
[May be a combination of the cropmarks interpreted by the NMP project as a continuation of Tansor High Street 2646/0/1 and the possible prehistoric/Roman trackway 2675/1]
