Full Description

{1} Archaeological investigation was undertaken during groundworks for a new house to the west of Plum Cottage. Two ditches and a gully all aligned NNW-SSE and three pits were identified. The features dated to the Saxo-Norman and medieval periods and are likely to be associated with the medieval settlement of Wood Burcote. Finds included animal bone, a loomweight and slag possibly suggestive of small-scale industry.
