Abstract/Summary

In February and March 2023, KDK Archaeology Ltd undertook an Archaeological Observation, Investigation and Recording project at Land adjacent to Plum Cottage, Burcote Lane, Wood Burcote, Northamptonshire, during the groundworks for the erection of a new dwelling with a detached garage. The groundworks revealed two ditches, a gully and three pits, variably containing Saxo-Norman and medieval pottery, slag, a loom weight, animal bone, and botanical remains. The archaeological features and finds, are indicative with agricultural, domestic and probably small-scale industrial activities associated with an adjacent settlement situated near Towcester that was active between the 11th and the 14th century.
