Monument record 8678/1/13 - Dispersed sites, RAF Wittering

The site of former Second World War accommodation and small arms range associated with the site of Collyweston WW2 Airfield which were locoated to the west of Collyweston Great Wood and mapped from RAF aerial photographs as part of the Rutland Roman Villa Project.

{1, 2} The site of dispersed former Second World War accommodation (centred at TF 0015 0103) and or storage huts (centred at TF 0007 0139) and small arms range and other huts and facilities associated with the site of Collyweston Airfiled sited to the NE which were locoated to the west of Collyweston Great Wood. A further group of huts can be seen to the west at SK 9953 01108 and and the site of the associated sewage works to the east at SK9980 0132. All these have been mapped from RAF aerial photographs as part of the Rutland Roman Villa Project, all have been removed following the war.
