Full Description

{1, 2} Three test pits were excavated as part of a community dig in an attempt to understand the origins of the ford over the River Cherwell. Metal detecting surveys were also undertaken by the Northamptonshire Artefact Recovery Club (NARC). A ?post-medieval road surface was identified as well as over 80kg of pottery, glass, metal and stone (mostly post-medieval/modern). Two of the metal finds were subsequently recorded on the PAS database- a medieval/post-medieval lace chape and a scallop-shaped lead 'palm guard'.
