Summary

Pre‑Construct Archaeology carried out a watching brief north of the church, where one grave cut and two pits, likely for the reburial of previously disturbed remains, were recorded in Trench 1. A small number of disarticulated human bones were recovered and reburied within the area. Two additional cuts in the service‑trench extension appeared grave‑like in form, though no articulated remains were present.

Full Description

{1} Pre-construct Archaeology undertook an archaeological Watching Brief on the north side of the church. A single grave cut was noted in Trench 1 along with two further pits were recorded, which appeared to have been excavated to rebury disarticulated bones from previously disturbed graves. A small number of disarticulated human bones were identified and these were reburied locally within the excavation area. Two further cuts were identified during the excavation of the service trench extension to Trench 1 and whilst their dimensions and orientation were suggestive of graves, no articulated human remains were noted.
