Full Description

{1} The results show that the barn and stable block range were likely to have been constructed at the same time in the early second half of the 19th century. Although it has been extensively altered the barn seems likely to have begun life as a threshing barn with large double doors on the north and south of the building. The style of the brick infill suggests that the doors were blocked relatively early in its life. More recent modernization has masked or removed much of its physical history. The ground floor of the stable range has been less affected by any later alterations and still retains some original floor surfaces, windows and fittings. The open‐fronted barn to the south of the barn and stables is of a slightly later date but is still likely to have been built before 1886 when all three buildings are shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map.
